About Amber Waves of Pain 9 July 2006

Amber @ 1:28 am

I created this blog for my family and friends to keep up to date with the things going on in my life.

My brother-in-law thinks that only exhibitionists have blogs, but also thinks brown loafers look good with jeans!

I’m not an exhibitionist as much as I am a realist. I know that I am really bad at calling people and most of my people live too far away to vist, so at least this way they can check in with us in Baltimore every now and then to see what I am doing.

My posts fall into one of the following categories. Click on any to see all posts in that category.

  • My Life Once a Day: Since October 2006 I have been documenting each day of my life with a photo to represent the day. The first year has been archived and set aside. I restarted in November 2007 with My Life Once a Day II.
  • Knitting: I knit. Usually socks. Sometimes I finish something. I tend to be a ‘figure it out’ kind of knitter. I figure out what I want pattern I might want to do, then find some yarn that might work and grab some needles and cast on. Then I usually lose the pattern, try to make it up, find the pattern and realize I have totally not been doing what I was supposed to be doing. So I just keep knitting. Whatever I do, I just keep knitting. Usually it turns out ok, and sometimes it even turns out pretty cool, but that happens more often when I don’t lose the pattern and when I actually do listen to what Heather Knits tells me.
  • Travel: I  get to travel internationally for work a few times a year, which makes me really happy. I currently working in vaccine research. I like to take photos from the plane and then match them up with Google Earth when I get back home. Most of my trips are to Africa and I try to see something new each time. It never gets old.
  • We have some beagles and some cats- they make pretty frequent visits here. Otherwise-this is just your basic “Hey mom, Watch me Dive, Watch me Dive, Watch me Dive” pay attention to me blog.

I wanted to let you know that I featured the Red Scarf Project 2007 on my podcast: Unwound this week. I even mentioned your knitalong. You can listen to the show here: http://unwound.libsyn.com/index.php?post_year=2006&post_month=11&post_day=17

After you’ve had time to listen, we’d love to include your comments or corrections on the next podcast. It would be great to hear the “voice” of the Red Scarf Project Knitalong. Participation is easy - call our dedicated voicemail line at 206-350-8181 and leave a message. This message will be converted to an audio file and emailed to me so I can add it to the next episode. It’s easy and I hope you will participate!

Let me know if you have any questions,

    Kelli Robinson
    Host of Unwound

Hey there! The Red Scarf Project for 2008 has kicked off with new guidelines and deadlines. They will only be accepting the red scarfs from September-October this year and there is a limit to 5 scarves a person because of the overwhelming number of scarves they got last year. I would like to join the KAL blog, my worpress user ID is C4G. I plan on spinning the yarn I plan to knit with and I hope to get my LYS (the one I work at) involved also this year. Thanks!!
