Rainbow Trout and Beagle Swimming Lessons

We spent some time today on the NCR Trail/Little Falls trout fishing and beagle swimming and knitting. I finished my reversed Endpaper Mitts just in time for… summer.

James caught two beautiful Rainbow Trout (and a couple nasty Fall Fish that we threw back- see the big gross head below).

Hi Buddy- you are going to be my dinner tonight!

I went out to water the garden tonight and saw my first little baby radish of the season had pushed itself up out of the ground and was calling to me. So I ate it- yummy and spicy. I wasn’t even sure that I liked radishes until that exact moment. I loves it!

Yeah- I know it seems kinda obvious. I asked Mom to stop by my house to check out my garden and tell me why some of my seeds didn’t sprout. This is the note she left me “you need to soak the soil if it does not rain”. Oops. She didn’t add “moron” at the end of it- but it was clearly implied. I’ve been trying to rely on the rain we collect in the rain barrel- but it hasn’t been raining enough and my little garden was thirsty.

My good friend got married this weekend. First we went to the Hindu ceremony- where she looked like a beautiful goddess in a red silk sari- and then to the church ceremony where she wore a stunning white dress.

She and I went to India two years ago and wandered around the stores in Chennai selling beautiful wedding sari silk and dreamed about wrapping ourselves up in the beautiful fabric. Two years later I had the honor of attending her wedding(s) to the adorable white boy from DC. I think she looks so serious and beautiful in these photos- though I did catch her smiling in the first one before the ceremony started.
